Think about it for a moment. Can you imagine using a mobile phone, computer, television, or even many household devices today without an internet connection? We now have internet connectivity and IoT built into almost every type of device.<\/p>\n
Communication has also changed completely. People can talk, build friendships, maintain long-distance relationships, and connect with someone on the other side of the world within seconds.<\/p>\n
But there is another question we should be asking.<\/p>\n
What happened to the actual “social” part of social networks?<\/b><\/p>\n
Are social networks still places where people genuinely meet new friends and communicate with each other? Or have they slowly turned into platforms where people constantly argue about politics, trends, influencers, viral topics, and whatever the algorithm decides to push in front of them?<\/p>\n
Take almost any major social network today.<\/p>\n
Algorithms play a massive role in deciding what you see. Instead of simply showing posts from people you care about, platforms constantly push recommended feeds, viral content, trending discussions, influencers, advertisements, controversial opinions, and topics designed to make you react.<\/p>\n
After a while, it becomes exhausting.<\/p>\n
And that exhaustion has created something many people now experience every day:<\/p>\n

We originally joined social networks to be social.<\/p>\n
We wanted to make friends, talk to people, share thoughts, discuss life, laugh together, and meet people we may never have had the chance to meet in real life.<\/p>\n
But now, instead of simply talking to humans, we are constantly being pushed toward AI-generated posts, recommended content, unwanted topics, outrage posts, viral videos, and endless feeds designed to keep us scrolling.<\/p>\n
Sometimes you don’t want another feed.<\/p>\n

Another problem with traditional social media is that almost everything you say becomes connected to your permanent digital identity.<\/p>\n
Your profile picture, your real name, your followers, your job, your location, your previous posts, your likes, and sometimes even people you know personally are all connected to the same account.<\/p>\n
That creates pressure.<\/p>\n
Every photo, comment, reaction, and post contributes to the public image you create online.<\/p>\n
Because of that, people naturally start censoring themselves.<\/p>\n
You may want to talk about loneliness, relationships, stress, personal problems, confusion, or something happening in your life.<\/p>\n
But then you start thinking:<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat will my friends think?\u201d<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWhat if my coworkers see this?\u201d<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWhat if my relatives read it?\u201d<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWill people judge me?\u201d<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n Sometimes you simply want to talk without attaching your entire real-world identity to the conversation.<\/p>\n That is where anonymous or pseudonymous chat can feel completely different.<\/p>\n Algorithms are designed to learn what makes you react.<\/p>\n If you keep interacting with a certain political topic, celebrity, argument, ideology, or controversy, the platform slowly begins showing you more of the same thing.<\/p>\n Eventually, your feed becomes predictable.<\/p>\n You keep seeing similar opinions, similar arguments, similar videos, and similar outrage.<\/p>\n Instead of discovering different people and having natural conversations, you become trapped inside an algorithmic feedback loop.<\/p>\n There is another problem too: social media content has become financially motivated.<\/p>\n So naturally, many creators start chasing whatever is trending instead of simply expressing themselves honestly.<\/p>\n When everyone’s attention has a monetary value, it becomes harder to know what is genuine and what is being performed simply to attract engagement.<\/p>\n Traditional social media has also become more about broadcasting than actually communicating.<\/p>\n Someone posts something. Hundreds or thousands of people comment underneath it. People argue. Others post jokes. Someone tries to get likes.
