The old avatar ushered in a new era of cinema viewing experience by introducing 3d to the public masses. It was revolutionary for its time. The movie's plot and characters were quite forgettable but it was a memorable experience due to the sheer scale of visuals and new technology on display. A lot of movies nowadays use 3d tech compared to 2009. So the sequel would have to bring new visual treats to live up to the original. While i doubt it would be similar in awe to the introduction of 3d in the original, james cameron is a talented director and it'd be foolish to bet against him. Can't wait to see this in theatres once its out.
