The B21 Raider is the successor to the B2 Sprit stealth bomber which has been in service for more than thirty years. The B21 improves on its predecessor in multiple ways. It reduces aircraft costs from 2 billion dollars to 700 million dollars due to the reduction from 4 to 2 engines while delivering the same payload. The B2 also shares its components including the engine with the F35 fighter jets greatly reducing costs due to economy of scale. The aircraft also includes much better avionics with advanced sensor fusion and datalink capabilities. The radar cross section or RCS of the aircraft is also greatly reduced to next generation radar/IR absorbent material coating, smaller engine inlets and electronic jamming making it incredibly hard for enemy air defenses to engage the aircraft. The B21 raider is also capable of optionally UNMANNED operation making it the only nuclear capable aircraft to do so. This is due to advances in AI and target detection technologies. The B21 is set to enter into service in 2025 with the United States planning for the acquisition of a 100 aircraft compared to the current fleet of 20 previous generation B2 bombers.
