Medical robotics is in practice in the US. And it's one of the high-paid jobs. It's mostly used for Surgery these days from what I heard. But still, it all depends on the investment the Hospital is willing to make and trained surgeons who can make operate through robots. or at least robotic arms.

It's also about training and investment. And R&D in the field of robotics in medicine. Even robotics-based surgery is not very common in the west. It's still a practice under caution and development. And a Normal Surgeon can't handle robotics they have to be trained as well.

The countries who have adopted robotic surgery like USA and japan have very strong economies with high GDP per capitas. These machines are extremely complex with high procurement and maintenance costs. As time goes economies of scale should in theory make them cheaper. Currently there is a very small share of indians who can afford to pay for these services compared to the japanese and americans who earn magnitudes more. As our economy improves and indians become richer we should see more of these machines in use or there should be indigenous development efforts undertaken to build cheaper and cost effective models.

Yes, the cost of surgeries will skyrocket with the use of Robotics. Indians at least the majority of them who are middle class can't afford them.
